Joining A Vintage Car Owners' Club

As a vintage car driver no doubt driving the car to a show, social or competitive event is more than a pleasure. Equally, you might get your kicks by just collecting vintage car regalia. Either way, belonging to a vintage car club, society or association could further add to your enjoyment and enthusiasm for cars from the vintage era. There can be a great many benefits and advantages to revelling and indulging in your passion en masse, and you don't even need to own a vintage car!

One option is joining a local members' vintage car club, the upshot being that you immediately have access to a tangible social network of like-minded enthusiasts. As you might expect, the smaller clubs tend to have smaller-scale meets, at local pubs, shows or parks. The benefit here is that you might be introduced to useful local vintage car resources or services, as well as introducing yourself to a potentially large circle of friends.

To find your nearest vintage car club, a good start would be to scour the Internet search engines to locate a group closest to you, or a specialist vintage car club that is dedicated to your favourite make and model of car. You will probably be pleasantly surprised at how many clubs are out there, and unless you own an extremely rare motor, the likelihood is that there is a club dedicated to your favourite make and model of vintage car.

If you would like to join a larger organisation, a great place to start is the Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC). It is an extremely popular and well known club with a variety of members. To see if you are eligible to join you can visit their website. Their purpose is to keep vintage cars well preserved and to provide all the help they can in keeping them on the road. They will also organise events and meets tailored to promote and complement vintage car driving.

So what are the advantages of belonging to a club? The biggest bonus of joining any vintage car club is the fact that the club will be run by a bunch of extremely enthusiastic and dedicated vintage car owners. Their purpose is to keep vintage cars well preserved and to provide all the help they can in keeping them on the road. They will also organise events and meets tailored to promote and complement vintage car driving.

Having the opportunity to talk to like-minded enthusiasts about your many weekends of toiling and tuning in the workshop can also draw its dividends. As a member, you can probably easily gain access to specialist information and publications pertinent to your particular car, such as where the best place to get fairly priced spares and parts is, where to go for specialist restoration services, as well as discounts and offers on insurance policies.

Being a club member also usually means that you will receive a newsletter, keeping you up to date with upcoming events, technical and mechanical tips, news, recent and archive photography and an outlet for specialist vintage car regalia.

Above all, becoming a member of a vintage car owners' club will allow you to completely indulge yourself in both socialising and competing alongside other devotees - and that's got to be a good thing!
